CONSTAN-TINOPOLIS [CONSTANTINOPOLIS]; bust l., laur. helmet, wearing imperial cloak, reversed spear.

REVERSE

Victory stg. l. on prow, holding long sceptre in r. hand and resting l. hand on shield. X in left field. SCON in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

MINTMARK VARIETY. Specimen similar to ARLES 408 except for SCON in exergue instead of SCONST (similar to m.m. on RIC VIII ARLES 32-50). Not listed in Ferrando. Could be regarded as an engraver's error or as an ancient imitation.
