UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND. Specimen similar to TICINUM 48a but rev. type is attested only for Constantius as Caesar. Additionally, the obv. legend is attested only for mints of Serdica (SERDICA 12a), Heraclea (HERACLEA 24a) and Cyzicus (CYZICUS 21a).

The presence of similar legend in Ticinum is not absolutely impossible. Note, however, that this coin is in fact a modern forgery - possibly accidental combination of two other forgeries. The obverse was taken from fake CYZICUS 21a (11.08 g, 25 mm; FAC "Fake Coin Reports"; also gold plated variant exists), while the reverse was taken from fake TICINUM 47a (27 mm; FAC "Fake Coin Reports").

Note that this obverse also appears on forgery of another "unlisted variety". See SISCIA [after 152] [FORGERY].

See also the same obverse ridiculously paired with reverse of a Syrian tetradrachm (8.7 g, 28.1 mm; Aquila 6, lot 583). The reverse was probably taken from fake tetradrachm of usurper Uranius Antoninus (FAC "Fake Coin Reports")

NOTES

Weight 8.80 g; diameter 26 mm. Sold on NBS Auctions web auction 3 (lot 672) in January 2021 for EUR 40. Now in six2ten collection.
