PROVIDEN-TIAEAVGG [PROVIDENTIAE AVGG]; camp gate, two turrets, no doors, star above, varying number of stone layers. PTR• in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

MINTMARK VARIETY. Unusual mintmark with dot instead of dot over crescent. Probably an ancient imitation. Note that this specimen could be regarded as a hybrid with reverse TRIER 475. However, similar coin minted for Crispus [TRIER 476] with rev. legend PROVIDENTIAE AVGG is not considered a hybrid! Yet another inconsistency in RIC.

NOTES

Weight 1.82 g; diameter 17 mm. Ex Beast Coins. Sold on VAuctions 244 (lot 139) in April 2010 for USD 84.
