RIC VII, TRIER [before 326], CONSTANTINE II, UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND

OBVERSE

CONSTANTINVSIVNNCOSII [CONSTANTINVS IVN N COS II]; bust l., laur., wearing trabea, eagle-tipped sceptre in r. hand.

REVERSE

ETATTRAN-QVILLITAS [ETAT (sic!) TRANQVILLITAS]; globe set on altar inscribed VO/TIS/XX; above, three stars. PTR in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND. Not attested for this issue (p. 190) and not recorded in RIC VII. But cf. footnote 312 on p. 191:

"Some of the obv. busts recorded for Constantine II have not been found: CONSTANTINVS IVN N C • COS II, bust K3 l. (CG) and the same bust with CONSTANTINVS IVN N COS II (Maur., loc. cit., rev. V. 43 and CG)."

Note error in rev. legend which was probably caused by double strike. Listed in RMBT (p. 66, no. 32; this coin), but may be regarded as an ancient imitation. Otherwise, should be listed before TRIER 326.
