UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND AND BUST TYPE - E5. RIC lists similar AV fractions [NICOMEDIA 172 (Numismatica Genevensis 8, lot 140, 1.64 g) and NICOMEDIA 185 (Hess 1935, Sammlung Franz Trau, lot 3906, 2.25 g)] but with different bust types and obv. legends. Coin should be listed before NICOMEDIA 185.

NOTES

AV fraction (probably of 1½ scripula or 9 siliquae). Weight 1.73 g; diameter 15 mm. Coin sold on CNG Triton XIV (lot 838) in January 2011 for USD 15,000; sold on Numismatica Ars Classica auction 102 (lot 583) in October 2017 for CHF 15,000.
