PRINCIPI•IVVENTVTIS [PRINCIPI • IVVENTVTIS]; Prince in military dress, stg. r., cloak displayed, holding transverse spear in r. hand and globe in l. No m.m.

UNLISTED ISSUE. Similar to NICOMEDIA 114-116, NICOMEDIA 183-184 and THESSALONICA 192-193, but without m.m. Attribution uncertain. Also, plain diadem could be regarded as laurel wreath. Not listed in Depeyrot. Coin should be listed after NICOMEDIA 116.

NOTES

AV fraction. Weight 1.52 g (probably 1½ scripula or 9 siliquae). Sold on CNG Triton IX (lot 1595) in January 2006 for USD 3,000 (Thessalonica or Nicomedia mint); sold on Künker auction 133 (lot 9102) in October 2007 for EUR 3,000 (indetermined mint).
