RIC VII, LYONS 158, CONSTANTINE I, [CORRECTION]

OBVERSE

CONSTAN-TINVSAVG [CONSTANTINVS AVG]; bust l., laur., cuir., Victory on globe in r. hand, l. hand empty (?).

REVERSE

BEATATRAN-QVILLITAS [BEATA TRANQVILLITAS]; globe set on altar inscribed VO/TIS/XX in three lines; above, three stars. C in left field, R in right field. PLG in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

[CORRECTION]. Bust type similar to I1/I2 but l. hand is not visible or is empty. Note VO/TIS on altar instead of VOT/IS. See also CORRIGENDA, VOL. VII, p. 89-90. According to Bastien Lyon (318-337) (footnote 3 on p. 156) LYONS 158, i.e. type with bust I1 l. (mappa in l. hand), does not exist. However, Bastien Lyon (318-337) (p. 156, no. 114) lists similar type with Emperor holding in l. hand short sceptre; "d'un sceptre court"). The present author believes that there is no sceptre (at the best empty hand only).
