RIC VII, LYONS 131, CONSTANTINE I, UNLISTED MINTMARK [IRREGULAR COIN]

OBVERSE

CONSTAN-TNVSAVG [CONSTANTNVS (sic!) AVG]; head r., laur.

REVERSE

BEATATRIINOVILLITIS [BEATA TRIINOVILLITIS]; globe set on altar inscribed VO/TIS/XX in three lines; above, three stars. C in left field, R in right field. PLGI in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED MINTMARK. Specimen similar to LYONS 131 except for PLGI in m.m. instead of PLG. Note that LYONS 131 is not confirmed in Bastien Lyon (318-337) (footnote 2 on p. 153). Note also errors in both legends, crude style and lettering. Apparently an ancient imitation.

NOTES

Weight 1.89 g; diameter 18 mm. Coin sold on TimeLine Auctions auction 169 (lot 3558) in December 2025 for GBP 60.
