UNLISTED BUST TYPE [B5] AND MINTMARK VARIETY. Bust type not attested for obv. legend 1a (p. 104). Note two dots in m.m. In footnote to LONDON 123 on p. 104 Bruun mentions similar variety but records m.m. as a defective PLON ("The m.m. is really PL:N, the 2 dots being what remains of an original O in PLON. The other letters are quite distinct. A slight shadow to the left of the dots could be interpreted as the left side of O"). The present author definitely rejects such speculations: there are undoubtedly just two dots (sometimes one of them could be worn). Listed in Cloke-Toone as a minor variant (8.10.004 (2)).
Note also that there is an error in RIC: cross in left field instead of star (see: CORRIGENDA, VOL. VII, p. 104). Coin should be listed after LONDON 119.
