RIC VII, HERACLEA [after 102], CONSTANTINE I, UNLISTED ISSUE [CONSTANTINVS MAX AVG]
OBVERSE
ANEPIGRAPHIC (no legend); head r. with plain diadem, looking upwards.
REVERSE
CONSTANTINVSMAXAVG [CONSTANTINVS MAX AVG]; two interlaced wreaths; above, star. SMH in exergue.
NOT IN RIC
UNLISTED ISSUE. Reverse type not attested for Heraclea but cf. TRIER 497, TICINUM 192, SIRMIUM 62 and NICOMEDIA 109. Traces of double strike. Dot in m.m. may be accidental.
However, note that this coin may be regarded as an ancient imitation (cf. Depeyrot p. 116; cites imitative coin of Constans with the same mintmark). Compare also two other coins which looks like products of the same workshop: irregular CONSTANTINOPLE [after 98] and CONSTANTINOPLE [after 107]. Also, possibility of modern forgery cannot be excluded. Otherwise, coin should be listed after HERACLEA 102.
