OBVERSE

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED ISSUE. Apparently not attested in RIC but note that attribution is highly uncertain.

The mint is impossible to determine. Could be Nicomedia (SMN in m.m.), Heraclea (SMH), Cyzicus (SMK) or even ROME (SMR). However, Antioch mint is the most probable option. The last guess is supported by the style of portrait and by the fact that letters SM in m.m. are shifted to l., so there is a room for four letters.

On the other hand, The first line of the third letter is clearly vertical, so it seems to be less probable that the third letter is "A", which is usually engraved on Antiochian silver with oblique lines. Cf. ANTIOCH 105 (Arsantiqva, 3.15 g, 19.66 mm). But there are sometimes exceptions.

Not listed in Ramskold-Gautier FELICITAS ROMANORUM. Should be listed in RIC after ANTIOCH 83.
