REVERSE

PRINCIPII-VVENTVTIS [PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS]; prince laur., in military dress, stg. r., cloak spread, transverse spear in r. hand, globe in l. hand. Star in left field. SMAN in exergue.

UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND AND BUST TYPE - L3 l.. RIC lists for this issue (with star in left field) only longer obv. legend with bust type B4. But cf. ANTIOCH 44 (Hess Divo 324, lot 103, 4.46 g).

Listed in Depeyrot (p. 147, no. 43/2); specimen from Berlin cited but with wrong obv. legend: D N CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB CAES instead of CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C. Coin should be listed in RIC after ANTIOCH 51.

Solidus. Weight 4.44 g; diameter 19 mm. Coin sold on Numismatica Genevensis auction 8 (lot 144) in November 2014 for CHF 12,000; sold on CNG auction 99 (lot 730) in May 2015 for USD 18,000.
