REVERSE

VICTORIACRISPICAES [VICTORIA CRISPI CAES]; Victory std. r. on cuir., with shield beside, holding shield inscribed VOT/X. Star in right field. SMAN in exergue.

UNLISTED ISSUE. Not attested in RIC. Cf. SIRMIUM 33 (Berlin no. 18236700, 4.47 g, 20 mm) with slightly different rev. (with Genius). For rev. type cf. SIRMIUM 23 (BM 1896,0608.101, 4.54 g) but with different bust on obv.

Listed in Depeyrot (p. 147, no. 42/2); this coin but with wrong rev. legend: VICTORIA CRISPI AVG instead of VICTORIA CRISPI CAES. Coin should be listed after ANTIOCH 50.

NOTES

Solidus. Weight 4.46 g; diameter 20 mm. Sold on Bank Leu auction 13 (lot 498) in April 1975 for CHF 42,000. From Museum of Fine Arts Boston (no. 1988.155).
