RIC VI, TREVERI [after 123a], DIOCLETIAN, REVERSE LEGEND VARIETY [IRREGULAR COIN]

OBVERSE	DIOCLET-IANVSAIG [DIOCLETIANVS AIG (sic!)]; bust r., laur., cuir.
REVERSE	VIRTVSM-ILITVM [VIRTVS MILITVM]; the four princes sacrificing over tripod before gate in six-turreted enclosure. Club in exergue.
NOT IN RIC	REVERSE LEGEND VARIETY. Specimen similar to TREVERI 123a except for different rev. legend break M-I instead of S-M. It sometimes makes a separate entry in RIC (cf. SISCIA 61 and SISCIA 62). Note error in obv. legend: AIG instead of AVG. Note also crude style and very light weight. Apparently an ancient imitation. Could be mentioned in RIC after TREVERI 123a.

Argenteus. Weight 1.61 g (sic!); diameter 17 mm. Coin sold on Leu Numismatik web auction 8, part 2 (lot 1417) in June 2019 for CHF 160.
