RIC VI, TREVERI [after 110b], GALERIUS MAXIMIAN, UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND

OBVERSE

MAXIMI-ANVSC [MAXIMIANVS C]; head r., laur.

REVERSE

VIRTVS-MILITVM [VIRTVS MILITVM]; the four princes sacrificing over tripod before gate in six-turreted enclosure. C in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND. Not attested for this issue (p. 175). Cf. TREVERI 110b with obv. legend MAXIMIANVS NOB C. Could be an official coin with unlisted obv. legend (engraver's error?). But note that two other specimens with the same error in rev. legend (MILITV instead of MILITVM), which seem to be imitations, share with the first one obv. die. Cf. also footnote 2 on p. 176: "Trau 3573 = Glen. 10.10.1951, 49, shows specimen of barbarous style with Consta-ntius N (sic) and compass-dot in rev. arch". Should be noted in RIC after TREVERI 110b.
