UNLISTED ISSUE. RIC lists almost identical issue (THESSALONICA 49-50b), but with no star in wreath.
General note from p. 507: "Officinae are reduced from six to five [this statement is not correct!] in an issue which, with sharp lose of weight, shows the wreath which anticipates Liciniu's quinquennalia. The sole type is Iovi Conservatori, again struck in quantity and from all officinae for all three colleagues. Licinius momentarily employs the full (quinquennalian) legend Imp C Val Lic ... P F Aug. Date, c. 312, earlier". Failmezger (RBC, p. 85 and plate 11) lists this variant for Maximinus and gives to it a separate number (202b). He also suggests that "type with star in wreath may be an allusion to Constantine's victory over Maxentius" (RBC, p. 72, footnote 155). See also CORRIGENDA, VOL. VI, p. 484, 518, 540-541.
Coin should be listed after THESSALONICA 50b.
