RIC VI, SISCIA 15, DIOCLETIAN, [CORRECTION]

OBVERSE

DIOCLET-IANVSAVG [DIOCLETIANVS AVG]; head r., laur.

REVERSE

IOVI-CONSE-RVATORI [IOVI CONSERVATORI]; Jupiter stg. l., chlamys hanging behind, r. holding thunderbolt, l. leaning on sceptre. *SIS in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

[CORRECTION]. SISCIA 15 is cited in RIC after Voetter's drawing, rather poor, and therefore the description is not very precise (RIC gives "chlamys over l. shoulder").

Note also that so far two different rev. legend breaks are attested: I-CONSE-R and O-NS-E, which could make in RIC two separate entries (cf. RIC VI TREVERI 802 and 807 or SISCIA 61 and SISCIA 62).

Listed in Depeyrot (p. 97, no. 4/5) with the same rev. legend breaks as in RIC.

NOTES

Aureus. Weight 5.61 g; diameter 18.3 mm. From the Münzkabinett of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien Collection (object no. RÖ 23377).

Other specimens:
