NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED FOR RULER. This AES issue is attested in RIC for Diocletian, Constantius and Galerius Maximian (p. 356). Note, however, that this specimen is a fourrée: the core (probably authentic bronze coin) has been plated with gold. Therefore it may be regarded as an ancient imitation. Could be mentioned in RIC after ROMA 48.

NOTES

Gold fraction (?). Weight 1.52 g; diameter 16 mm. Coin sold on Numismatik Naumann auction 72 (lot 672) in December 2018 for EUR 325.
