OBVERSE

DIOCLETI-ANVSAVG [DIOCLETIANVS AVG]; head r., laur.

REVERSE

VIRTVS-M-ILITVM [VIRTVS MILITVM]; the four princes sacrificing over tripod before gate in six-turreted enclosure. Δ in exergue.
|
NOT IN RIC
|
REVERSE LEGEND VARIETY. Coin similar to ROMA 40a except for rev. legend breaks: VIRTVS-M-ILITVM instead of VIRTVS-MILITVM. Note that for silver coins different legend break usually makes a separate entry (cf. RIC VI SISCIA 34a-38b). However, there are sometimes inconsistencies in RIC (cf. ROMA 37b or footnote 2 on p. 354 to ROMA 42a: "Specimen of off. Γ at Vienna with Virtu-s-Militum"). Anyway, coin could be listed after ROMA 40a.
