IMPMAXIMIANVSPAVG [IMP MAXIMIANVS P AVG]; bust r., helm., dr. (?), cuir., spear over r. shoulder, shield on l. arm.

REVERSE

GENIOPOP-VLIROMANI [GENIO POPVLI ROMANI]; Genius stg. l., modius on head, naked but for chlamys over l. shoulder, r. holding patera, l. cornucopiae. Altar in left field, B in right field. PLC in exergue.

UNLISTED BUST TYPE. Similar to bust type Q (which is also not attested for obv. legend 2d) except for spear instead of sceptre. Bust may be also regarded as cuirassed and draped. Listed in Bastien Lyon - supplément II (p. 131, no. 194α; bust E*₄: "cuirasse, [...] sceptre"). Should be listed before LUGDUNUM 100b.

NOTES

Weight 8.51 g; diameter 27.5 mm. Coin sold on CGB Monnaies 27 (lot 318) in October 2006 for EUR 1,000. Shown in Bastien Lyon - supplément II (plate XXXV, no. 194α a).
