C-ONSTANTINVSPAVG [CONSTANTINVS P AVG]; bust l., laur., cuir., r. holding spear forward, shield on l. arm [Y].

REVERSE

PRINCIPII-VVENTVTIS [PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS]; Prince stg. facing, head l., cloak hanging from l. shoulder, r. holding globe, l. reversed spear. Star in right field. PLN in exergue.

UNLISTED BUST TYPE - Y. Not attested for obv. legend 1e (p. 137). For this bust type see also CORRIGENDA, VOL. VI, p. 134. Listed in Cloke-Toone but split into two variants: with bust cuirassed only (7.07.022; not illustrated) and with bust cuirassed and draped (7.07.023). Note, however, that the alleged drapery seen on some specimens could be regarded as balteus, shoulder belt used to suspend sword or to support shield. Coin should be listed in RIC before LONDINIUM 228.
