RIC VI, ANTIOCHIA [after 12], MAXIMIAN HERCULIUS, UNLISTED MINTMARK

OBVERSE

DIOCLETIA-NVSAVGVSTVS [DIOCLETIANVS AVGVSTVS]; head r., laur.

REVERSE

CONSVL-VI-PPPROCOS [CONSVL VI P P PROCOS]; Emperor, laur., togate, stg. facing, head l., r. holding out globe, l. holding short baton at side. Star in left field. SMA [retrograde sigma] star in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED MINTMARK. Specimen similar to ANTIOCHIA 11 (ANS 1955.191.3, 5.36 g, 19 mm) except for star in left field (cf. ANTIOCHIA 22, p. 615). See also CORRIGENDA, VOL. VI, p. 613-614. Not listed in Depeyrot but mentioned (this specimen) on p. 141 as presumably an engraver's error (CONSVL V in rev. legend instead of CONSVL VI). Note, however, that confirmed existence of corresponding piece minted for Diocletian (CONSVL VI) with the same m.m. questions this hypothesis. Coin should be listed in RIC after ANTIOCHIA 12.
