REVERSE

IOVICONSE-RVATORIAVG [IOVI CONSERVATORI AVG]; Jupiter stg. l., chlamys across l. shoulder, holding Victory on globe, leaning on sceptre; at feet, eagle holding wreath. X in right field. SIS in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

REVERSE VARIETY. Specimen similar to SISCIA 20 (NAC 49, lot 456, 5.46 g; see also plate 12, no. 20 in RIC) except for Jupiter holding Victory on globe instead of thunderbolt. Coin should be listed after SISCIA 20.

NOTES

Aureus. Weight 5.36 g; diameter 20 mm. Coin sold on Damien Libert "Collection NOTE (1910-1982)" auction (session I, lot 97) in February 2018 for EUR 9,000; sold on Roma Numismatics auction XVI (lot 808) in September 2018 for GBP 8,000.
