RIC VII, LYONS [after 71], LICINIUS I, UNLISTED BUST TYPE

OBVERSE

IMPLICI-NIVSAVG [IMP LICINIVS AVG]; bust l., laur., dr., cuir. (?), spear across r. shoulder.

REVERSE

VICTORIAELAETPRINCPERP [VICTORIAE LAET PRINC PERP]; two Victories facing one another, holding shield inscribed VOT/PR over altar of varying design. Two captives in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED BUST TYPE. Similar to G1 or G2, but probably draped and cuirassed. Description is uncertain because of a piece of metal on obverse pressed down during the minting process. Now, it appears to be another object resting on Licinius' left shoulder. Coin should be listed after LYONS 71.

NOTES

Weight 3.26 g; diameter 18 mm. Coin sold on Pegasi auction XXII (lot 596) in April 2010 for $320.
