CONSTANTINVSMAXCOSIIII [CONSTANTINVS MAX COS IIII]; bust l., laur., wearing trabea, eagle-tipped sceptre in r. hand.

REVERSE

SOLIINVIC-TOCOMITI [SOLI INVICTO COMITI]; Sol stg. l., chlamys across l. shoulder, raising r. hand, globe in l. hand. TF in left field, star in right field. PLG in exergue.

UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND. Rare "dated" coin minted during the fourth consulship of Constantine I in 315. Similar to LYONS 37 (Universitšt Graz, no. 2229, 2.91 g) which has longer obv. legend CONSTANTINVS MAX P F AVG COS IIII (1d) with the same bust type (p. 124). Coin should be listed after LYONS 37.

NOTES

Weight 3.07 g; diameter 20.5 mm. Coin sold on CGB Monnaies 27 (lot 399) in October 2006 for EUR 880. Now in Brent Upchurch's collection.
