RIC VII, LONDON [after 300], CONSTANTINE II, UNLISTED ISSUE [Dot over PLON] AND REVERSE LEGEND VARIETY

OBVERSE

CONSTANTINVSIVNNOBC [CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C]; bust r., laur., dr., cuir, seen from back.

REVERSE

PROVIDEN-TIAECAESS• [PROVIDENTIAE CAESS•]; camp gate, two turrets, no doors, star above, varying number of stone layers. Dot in arch. PLON in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED ISSUE. Specimen similar to LONDON 296 except for dot over PLON (in arch). Coins with such m.m. are not listed in RIC as a separate issue. However, dot in arch is mentioned in footnotes 293 and 296 on p. 116 (for Constantine's I and Constantine's II coins). The relatively large number of known specimens suggests, that dot is not an accidental die crack or an engraver's error. Note also the dot at the end of the rev. legend (could be also marked as PLON•). Coin should be listed after LONDON 300.
