RIC VII, LONDON [after 235], LICINIUS II, UNLISTED FOR RULER

OBVERSE

LICINIVSIVNNOBCAES [LICINIVS IVN NOB CAES]; bust r., laur., cuir., seen from back.

REVERSE

BEA[TA]TRAN-QVILLITAS [BEATA TRANQVILLITAS]; globe on altar inscribed VOT/IS/XX in three lines; above, three stars. PLO[N] in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED FOR RULER. RIC does not list Licinius' II coins from London Beata series (p. 110-115). But note that the rev. legend could be read BEAT TRANQVILLITAS (instead of BEATA). Note also clumsy lettering ("L" and "I" are very similar). Possibly an ancient imitation. Otherwise coin could be listed after LONDON 235.

NOTES

Coin sold on eBay in September 2013 for $27.
