RIC VII, CONSTANTINOPLE [before 135A], CONSTANTINE I (?), UNLISTED FOR RULER, BUST TYPE E5, OFFICINA A

OBVERSE

REVERSE

CONSTAN-TINVSAVG [CONSTANTINVS AVG]; Victory advancing l., holding wreath, palm branch. C•A in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED FOR RULER, BUST TYPE E5. RIC lists this issue only for Constantine II [CONSTANTINOPLE 135A, in "Addenda and Corrigenda" (p. 719)], Constans [CONSTANTINOPLE 136] and Dalmatius [CONSTANTINOPLE 136A, in "Addenda and Corrigenda" (p. 719)]. Note that it could be a portrait of Constantine II (see, particularly, late type of rosette-diadem and long hair on neck). In that case it is variant of RIC VIII CONSTANTINOPLE 15 [click for picture], unlisted for rev. legend. Otherwise coin should be listed before CONSTANTINOPLE 135A.
