FLCONSTANSNOBCAES [FL CONSTANS NOB CAES]; bust r., laur., dr., cuir. [B4].

REVERSE

PRINCIPI-IVVE-NTVTIS [PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS]; prince stg. l. in military dress, holding vexillum with r. hand, long sceptre with l. hand; behind, one standard. CONS in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED BUST TYPE [B4] AND REVERSE VARIETY. RIC lists this type for Constans in "Addenda and Corrigenda" as CONSTANTINOPLE 112A (p. 719). Specimen described there (from Emona hoard) has the same obv. legend, but different bust type E8 [bust r., rosette-diadem, dr., cuir.] (p. 719). Note also rev. variety: one standard behind prince instead of two (cf. CONSTANTINOPLE 109). Coin should be listed after CONSTANTINOPLE 112.
