MINTMARK VARIETY. Specimen similar to ARLES 379 except for additional pellets on rev. RIC lists only variety with one pellet inside wreath and another pellet (or small rosette) on top of wreath. This variety (or a separate issue) was for the first time described by David Berthod (Emissions inaperçues pour Arles, "Numismatique & Change", no. 452).

The present author believes that pellets were added to distinguish this emission from one with empty wreath. So there are possibly still only two m.m. patterns: one with wreath [ARLES 370-372] and one with wreath and pellet/pellets [ARLES 375-378].
