RIC VII, ARLES [before 286], CONSTANTINE I, UNLISTED ISSUE

OBVERSE

CONSTAN-TINVSAVG [CONSTANTINVS AVG]; head r., laur.

REVERSE

VIRTV-SAVGG [VIRTVS AVGG]; gateway with wide open doors of varying design, four turrets, varying number of stone layers, star above. P•AR in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED ISSUE. Mintmark unlisted, but similar to ARLES 264-279 except for dot instead of star (p. 263-264). However, note that according to RIC, Virtus Augg reverse was not introduced in Arles till the next issue [ARLES 291] (p. 265). Specimen of a good style, might be an ancient imitation, but further investigations needed. Should be listed before ARLES 286.
