REVERSE

PRINCIPIIVVE-NTVTIS [PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS]; Prince stg. facing, head l., cloak hanging from l. shoulder, r. holding globe, l. reversed spear. Star in right field. PLN in exergue.

UNLISTED BUST TYPE - CC. Not attested for obv. legend 1e (p. 137). For this bust type see also CORRIGENDA, VOL. VI, p. 134. Listed in Huvelin (no. 137) with bust described as cuirassed only. Listed in Cloke-Toone (7.07.028) with bust described as cuirassed and draped. Note, however, that the alleged drapery seen on some specimens could be regarded as balteus, shoulder belt used to suspend sword or to support shield. Should be listed in RIC after LONDINIUM 228.

NOTES

Weight 4.75 g; diameter 22 mm. Coin sold on eBay in June 2014 for EUR 102. Now in the Nemesis Collection.
