REVERSE

PRINCIPIIVVE-NTVTIS [PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS]; Prince stg. facing, head l., cloak hanging from l. shoulder, r. holding globe, l. reversed spear. Star in right field. PLN in exergue.

UNLISTED BUST TYPE - CC. Not attested for obv. legend 1d (p. 137). For this bust type see CORRIGENDA, VOL. VI, p. 134. Listed in Huvelin (no. 130-130a; bust described as cuirassed). Listed in Cloke-Toone but split into two variants: with bust cuirassed only (7.07.016) and with bust cuirassed and draped (7.07.018). Note, however, that the alleged drapery seen on some specimens could be regarded as balteus, shoulder belt used to suspend the sword or to support the shield. Coin should be listed in RIC after LONDINIUM 226.

Weight 4.41 g; diameter 23 mm. Probably would be (7.07.018) in Cloke-Toone. Coin sold on eBay in May 2006 for $52.64; sold on eBay in July 2008 for $420.
