OBVERSE

MAXIMINVSNOBCAE-S [MAXIMINVS NOB CAES]; bust l., laur., helm., cuir., sceptre over r. shoulder, shield on l. arm.

REVERSE

VIRTVSAV-GGETCAESSNN [VIRTVS AVGG ET CAESS NN]; prince, turned l., with shield on l. arm, galloping r. over three fallen foemen, striking downwards with his spear. AQΓ in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

REVERSE VARIETY. Specimen similar to AQUILEIA 68b except for three foemen instead of two. Note also that the prince is turned l., striking a foeman which is behind him. Listed in Paolucci & Zub (no. 139).

NOTES

Weight 7.42 g; diameter 27 mm. Coin sold on Rauch auction 91 Part 1 (lot 786) in December 2012 for EUR 950; sold on Gorny & Mosch auction 215 (lot 485) in October 2013 for EUR 650; sold on CNG auction 99 (lot 721) in May 2015 foor USD 1,600.
