OBVERSE

DNDIOCLETIANOBAEATISSIMOSENAVGG [D N DIOCLETIANO BAEATISSIMO SEN AVGG]; bust r., laur., in imperial mantle, r. holding olive-branch, l. mappa.

REVERSE

PROVIDENTIADEORVMQVIESAVGG [PROVIDENTIA DEORVM QVIES AVGG]; Providentia stg. r., extending r. hand to Quies stg. l., r. holding branch, l. leaning on sceptre. Δ in middle field. ANT in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

[CORRECTION], UNLISTED OFFICINA - Δ. RIC claims that this Providentia issue has a dot in m.m. (ANT•). However, there is no dot (or only accidental and extremely rare). According to RIC, there are "sometimes S F in field to l. and r.". Also not attested.

Cf. footnote 4 on p. 624: "Evidence for this issue is far from strong; it is likely that • in the mint-mark may sometimes have been a misreading of : (as in the next mark). It is, however, included here on the supposition that it may in fact exist". Note that dots on some coins may be obliterated or absent due to clogged die and these coins in fact belong to the next issue (ANT:) but the existence of issue without dot seems to be well proven.

For ANTIOCHIA 72a RIC lists only officinae Z and ΔЄ (p. 624), i.e. officina Δ was not known to Sutherland.
